Rev'd Sam Maginnis
Hello! My name is Sam Maginnis and I am delighted to have been appointed to serve you as Team Vicar of Horsham Team Parish from this autumn.
I was ordained in 2019 and am coming to the end of my curacy in the parish of St John the Baptist, Loughton, in the Diocese of Chelmsford. Prior to ordination I worked as a lawyer in private practice and for the national competition regulator, the CMA.
In 2014 I took a career break to explore my vocation to ministry and engage in theological study before commencing ordination training at St Stephen’s House, Oxford.
In Loughton a key focus of my ministry has been community outreach:
specifically, building better links with people on the Debden housing estate, which falls entirely within St John’s parish. I have taken the lead in setting up a community hub, St John’s-on-the-Broadway, in a former shop on the estate where we now run a variety of activities for children and adults based around their social needs.
I pray that this experience can inform my ministry in Horsham as we discern together how God is calling us to bolder witness and fuller life in Christ through our worship and service to others.
